The question is, did they consider any of your feedback before putting out this model to the public for sale? My understanding was that this wasn't a production model yet. Plus, I would prefer the charcoal or black color for the case over the color of the sample you have. I would really like to see them fix that s-meter flaw, too. So much for updating their radios to something with more modern accoutrements such as backlighted keys, RDS, weatherband (for US customers), etc.

I just buy this radio because of your review and for the better, more easier to read scale as in operation is very similar to de D-219 but with a better speaker, Bluetooth and audio files reproduction. It allows to insert MicroSD card completely, as some units that I have protrude and it can be damaged if the unit get dropped on this side. It have low noise reception, but as you said, a very weird tuning. I use it also as my phone speaker when listening to a radio stations app that plays those around the world, as it works as if I listen to an actual station in the radio. I like it very much. Thanks for the review, this unit as very useful, as it has a great sound for its size. 73😊

Interesting. Worth considering because of the price. Btw, try flashing new "Goshante" firmware on an ats-20 receiver, the annoying muting issue is almost resolved.

There a lot of cheaper radios, like you have shown. I can get a RSPdx r2 for about $100 lest, and it has a much wider coverage.

Speaking of expensive, Ham Radio Outlet has the Yaesu FT-710 on deep sale through the end of this month. The Field is $876 USD and the AESS base station version is $944. Normally $1,300. It's number four on the Sherwood list.

I’ll pass on the D220 this time around. I just bought an Eton Elite Executive and will begin my foray into the wonderful world of SSB. I have the D219 and the only way I can see to improve it is to add FM stereo. Still, if you have the D219 it may need its sibling in your collection.

I have a green one. Cost me 1112 rupees. Am satisfied with it although i feel it is a bit pricey. Shortwave although compressed, still works good. I normally listen to BBC on 12095 khz with clear reception just on the whip antenna.

So ... on the tuning steps. For the 16.4 MHz wide SW band what are the steps? If the steps are 1 kHz, then that's 16400 steps from one end to the other! If the steps are 10 kHz it's a little better ate (surprise) 1640 steps ... but still .. .how many steps per revolution of the thumbwheel? It just seems like it would take forever to get from 49 m to 13 m!

They release crap like this all the time unfortunately. Sadly I don't think real brands like Eton or Tecsun will release new products any time soon. They both have most of their product line discontinued and no plan for new release.

I wonder why they gave up on the callsign instead of just keeping it for ESPN radio? ESPN radio format in itself has been under heavy decline for years now also and WFAN dominates the sports talk in New York. Edit: WCBS FM will continue on 101.1 playing classic rock.

Sad to hear the format is going away. I am near Philadelphia and we still have the All News station KYW 1060 AM. It broadcasts a big signal at night. It is simulcast on 103.9 FM now and I worry how long they will keep the AM broadcast. So long CBS 880.

I was going to make the Tecsun PL330 my first SSB radio, but I have and like very much the Mini and Traveler III. The Executive does almost everything so well, uses AA batteries and comes with an adapter that can charge batteries internally and will do the same for the Traveler III. The addition of the air band is most desirable and RDS is a plus. Will eventually get a very nice Tecsun.

This is tragic. Why quit on a station that is successful and that contributes so much to our understanding of REAL news. I will greatly miss the anchors and the traffic/weather on the 8's!
